Dairy Forms AI – Woodstock

Description: From a very young age I have been obsessed with the nineteen seventies and Woodstock, it was the start of peace, love, and rock and roll. The aesthetic of the nineteen sixty-nine concert was my main focus and trying to capture the fun, hippies, and grit of camping for a free concert. People from all over the country traveled in cars, vans, and buses with multiple people even hitchhiking their way to Woodstock.

Motivation: Music has been a main part of my life since birth, with the only songs able to lull me to sleep being the Grateful Dead and Aretha Franklin. I have been told by many that I am an old soul lost from the seventies, my aunt swore I was with her at “the kegger on the mountain” in 78. The street I live on is even named “Woodstock”, it was inevitable that I would turn into what my mother calls a flower child. This work is what I imagine my time at Woodstock could have been, maybe its a premonition from a past life, or most likely my insane love and obsession for this time period.

Process: Each ten second video segment began with multiple AI image generations and endless prompts. To get the perfect image it was mostly trail and error, as well as finding out what each descriptive words triggered in the generative system. After each imagine is generated to your liking you must put each picture into an AI image to video generator to create your separate clips. At the same time, you must also right a new prompt for this video generation including camera angle, movements, and background noise. After each ten second clip has been generated to a close perfection, it’s time to add each individual clip together to create a story line. Using another application to clip these videos together you then must add in your transitions, sound track, and sound effects for a more realistic viewing experience. This process takes anywhere between three hours to a number of days depending on the length and style of the work.

What does it mean to you: This work is what I think the 1969 Woodstock could have looked like from the perspective of a modern teenager. This time period is very dear to my heart and I loved experimenting with AI to create fun images to represent this musical era.
