Diary Forms: Daily Achievements

My project started off as a simple series of pictures taken by me or ones I found that I thought were representative of me, along with a few short sentences describing things about myself that I wanted to share. My original intention was just to be more open about things about myself; things I like doing, subjects I’m interested in, objects I collect, etc. I printed out the pictures along with the sentences I wrote about myself and pinned them up to the wall. I didn’t like how it came out very much so I decided to change it almost completely for the next iteration.

Part of my initial project included the fact that I like making patches for personal projects of mine, and someone suggested that I expand upon that aspect of my project. So I took that and decided that I should change the project to not just be me sharing things about myself, but me setting personal achievements for myself every week and making patches to commemorate these achievements.

I then decided to put them on a vest of some kind, similarly to a boy scout, biker or punk vest. The original idea for that was to simply put them on a denim vest, since that’s the medium that I’m most familiar with. Angela kept pushing that I make the vest myself instead, so I am in the process of making one out of duct tape now. I’m unsure of what it will entirely look like after I’m done but I’m attempting to make it wearable.
